Resource Mobilization for Climate Finance

Inkaterra Association leads a global impact initiative that promotes the conservation of biodiversity.

The MDSL (Madre de Dios Sustainable Landscape Initiative) is a multi-sectoral initiative that promotes the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity of global importance, restores carbon sequestration capacity, and improves local living standards and native peoples in the department of Madre de Dios, Peru.

The MDSL is led by the Inkaterra Association, in collaboration with organizations such as the Smithsonian Institute, National Geographic Society, AJE Group, RAMSA, The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and the Green Initiative. 

 

As a member of the consortium, the responsibility of the Green Initiative is to promote the programming of mitigation activities to climate change, supporting the construction of the baseline, defining the climate action strategy, and supporting the generation of proposals that allow the mobilization of USD 50MM in donation funds. Among the scheduled impacts, the following stand out:

  1. 84,090 ha with preserved connectivity;
  2. 17,000 ha with sustainable management;
  3. 180 K tons of carbon mitigated; carbon sequestration capacity restored to 1981 levels.
